Volkswagen Golf GTI Launched in India at Rs 53 Lakh

Volkswagen has officially introduced the iconic Golf GTI in the Indian market, priced at Rs 53 lakh (ex-showroom). This launch marks the arrival of the high-performance hatchback, which is being imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) in limited quantities to maintain its exclusivity.  

Performance and Engine Specifications

Under the hood, the Volkswagen Golf GTI is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. This engine delivers 265 horsepower and 370 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds and has a top speed electronically limited to 250 km/h. 

Exterior Design and Styling

The Golf GTI boasts a sporty and aggressive design. Key exterior features include Matrix LED headlights, 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, red brake calipers, and distinctive GTI badging. The car is available in four color options: Grenadilla Black, Kings Red, Moonstone Grey, and Oryx White. 

Interior Features and Comfort

Inside, the Golf GTI offers a blend of performance and luxury. It features a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, leather-wrapped steering wheel, three-zone climate control, and ambient lighting with 30 color options. Additional amenities include a sunroof, wireless charging, and heated front seats. 

Safety and Technology

Safety is a priority in the Golf GTI, equipped with seven airbags, rearview camera, tyre pressure monitoring system, and ISOFIX child seat anchors. Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Level 2 features include automatic emergency braking, lane change assist, and rear traffic alert. 

The Volkswagen Golf GTI is available in India through the CBU route, ensuring limited availability to maintain its exclusivity. Bookings have commenced, and deliveries are expected to begin soon.  

Comparison with Competitors

In the Indian market, the Golf GTI competes with models like the Mini Cooper S. While the Mini Cooper S offers a top speed of 242 km/h, the Golf GTI surpasses it with a top speed of 250 km/h and faster acceleration.
